I hate Twitter, but it sure is great for disasters and political upheval!

Here we are in the middle of a legitimate news story. Iran's election appears to be a total sham and we're lapping it up in 142 characters or less.

The most amazing thing about [Twitter](http://twitter.com) is that it allows people all over the world the reach each other in bite sized nuggets on information. This type of information is perfect for people that are in the middle of a war zone perhaps, or maybe marching in protest of a stolen election. Twitter is obnoxious when used for bullshit like Shaq's updates about the NBA Finals and Lohan's lame observations about drunken driving. This however, is different. When I hear the word, it still makes me cringe, but I'm entranced my the 2009 version of 'man on the street' interviews.

Check out the Tweets from [Iran Election](http://search.twitter.com/search?q=iranelection) and keep up to date. There is word that Twitter is being blocked in some areas (as well as sites like [HuffPo](http://huffingtonpost.com).
